Trailer Reaction - Justice League SDCC Trailer

Overall
Like many people I have been counting down the days to SDCC and to the WB panel in hopes of seeing some new Justice League footage. Like many I'm excited for this movie but I'm trying to keep it in check because.. Well its a DC movie and all though they found huge success with Wonder Woman. It doesn't mean there back on track and not editing half the movie out and throwing it in the theater.

Highlights
- Can well all agree J.K. Simmons Commissioner Gordon looks awesome.
- Wonder Woman music never gets old *Turns on Wonder Woman music for intense typing sequence*
- I feel like there needs to be a movie of Batflec standing on buildings in random poses for an hour and half.. I'd watch.
- Apparently Steppenwolf (I think thats who this is) has a giant flaming sword/hammer and really likes to use it.
- This trailer only proves to me that the Aquaman movie needs to come faster. (Never thought I'd say that in my lifetime.. moving on.)
- I don't see a thing at the end of the trailer.. So those seeing green.. its like barely there and could be anything else.

Dunkirk - Movie Review

Source: Slash Film

Dunkirk – PG13

Starring: Fionn Whitehead, Damien Bonnard, Aneurin Barnard, Tom Hardy
Director: Christopher Nolan

THE GOOD
The sights and sounds of this movie are amazing. The movie is worth seeing for that reason alone. It was nice to watch a movie where it all felt real. There was no over use of CG and if they needed something in this movie they went and made it not built it in a computer. The sound was immersive and put you into the movie. I also enjoyed the lack of dialogue in this movie as odd as that sounds. It’s a movie that got all its points across without bogging it down with unnecessary exposition or scenes that just feel like they are there to fill time. The set up for what’s going on was simple and to the point in the beginning of the movie. The movie moves well and doesn’t feel like it drags at any point. I didn’t find myself annoyed with a scene or hoping it would come to an end already.

THE BAD
This didn’t bother me but if you were looking for a dialogue heavy story. This is not the movie for you. If you were hoping for that one lead character to grab on to and follow through the movie and see the lesson he/she learns? Then this really isn’t one of those movies either. I really don’t have any complaints for this movie.

THE CONCLUSION
This is a solid movie. Just from a visual and sound standpoint you should want to see this movie and I’d find the biggest clearest screen I could find (IMAX or 70mm).

GRADE: A (Yea I’m changing it again)

Weiner.. I here the laughing.. It was a good documentary.. Read Below!

Weiner – R

Starring: Huma Abedin, Amit Bagga, Anthony Weiner
Director: Josh Kriegman, Elyse Steinberg

THE GOOD
I thoroughly enjoyed this documentary. It’s been a while since I’ve gone to a theater to see a documentary. Actually now that I think about it this might be a first. Besides those ones you’re forced to go to in school. The thing I liked most about this documentary was although it was about a political figure. The politics were not in it really. Yes, you know what he ran as but much past that they didn’t go into it much further then that. It was about Mr. Weiner and his pursuit. I guess more accurately his disastrous pursuit to become Mayor of New York City. They did bring up the scandal that was a running theme throughout the movie but not in a way where I was saying to myself “I get it. Move on.” It worked for me. Interesting to watch a guy who is always going one step to far and doesn’t seem to know when to stop and although you can admire that the ego of this guy really starts to show its self towards the end.  Well off to the next section as I’m rambling and my comments aren’t in order.

THE BAD
Honestly, I don’t have much bad to say about this documentary at all. It was well filmed, the focus of the documentary was an interesting guy, and they kept the politics out of it. (Come to think of it I could of saved myself a lot of typing if I would of just put it this way in the top section.. Eh moving on.) No complaints here.

THE CONCLUSION
Now as you can see by my rating below I gave it 9 out of 10. I imagine your asking yourself, If you’ve read this far, why isn’t it a solid 10 out of 10. I don’t know… It doesn’t feel like a 10 out of 10 for me but for what reason I couldn’t tell you. Maybe I just wanted a little more closure as to what everyone is up to now since all of this happened… Yes that’s it a poor reason but the only one I could think of other then a “feeling”. Final verdict if you are interested in all about politics then you should go. Are you a fan of people with huge ego’s who don’t know when to stop? Go. Are you just a fan of documentaries? Go. See the trailer below and if you like it… Guess what? Go.

Finding Dori.. The review that felt dirty to write..

Finding Dori – PG

Starring: Ellen DeGeneres, Albert Brooks, Ed O'Neill
Director: Andrew Stanton, Angus MacLane

THE GOOD
It’s a Pixar movie so of course this movie looks fantastic. More impressive was the short animation they played before the movie. Believe it or not my favorite character out of this movie wasn’t Dori and it wasn’t Nemo it was an octopus named Hank voiced by Ed O’Neill. Although there were some seals that were pretty funny as well. Now as you may tell by this not a lot of substance when it comes to the good. It looks a little thin and superficial and that leads me to…

THE BAD
Unfortunately I’m going to have more bad to say about this movie then good. The first like 10 minutes of this movie had me worried. It mirrored the first one to the point I was thinking to myself he we go again. Luckily the movie didn’t continue down that course. It felt like a pretty generic movie there wasn’t a big twist. In typical Pixar style there was the emotional turn in the middle of the movie with everything working out in the end. The story wasn’t anything to right home about.  Pretty positive I could tell you the entire story/plot in about 2 to 3 sentences or you could just watch the trailers. Although it’s what I expected the movie to be so I’m not sure whether I can truly complain about the story when I still went to the theaters knowing that. Now I went out and saw this movie on the Friday it came out it’s now Tuesday following that so it’s been some time. I was asked about what my favorite part was and I struggled to come up with a part. There were maybe one or two scenes that stood out but that were it. The movie wasn’t all that remember able. There certain scenes to this day that I remember out of other Pixar movies and for me this one didn’t have those scenes that I’m going to remember long after this movies been out a while. Also you could take Nemo and his dad out of this movie and the scenes they had and I still feel like you would of gotten the same movie except for like one scene in the end that you could of switched easily. So there presents in the movie didn’t really change much or add much.

THE CONCLUSION
So where am I at with this movie. Let’s remember that this is a Pixar movie so even a mediocre Pixar movie is a lot better then most movies. It was very well done and the animation was awesome. It just fell flat for me everywhere else. The thing with Pixar is.. it’s Pixar I expect more from them then what I got this time. They screwed themselves by setting the bar as high as they have. So is this a run out, have to see it in the theater movie? No not really. Is it a watch it when it comes out have a movie night kind of movie? Yes.

Deadpool.. Who would of thought? Review (spoilers..sorta)

Deadpool – R

Starring: Ryan Reynolds, T.J Miller, and Morena Baccarin
Director: Tim Miller

THE GOOD
This movie is brilliant. I have not gone and seen this movie 3 times since it has come out and it still works even after seeing it multiple times. Ryan Reynolds is awesome as Deadpool he does an awesome job. I don’t know about you but after this I think its time to cut Ryan Reynolds some slack. T.J Miller plays a long time friend of Wade (Ryan Reynolds). I enjoyed this character as where the humor of Deadpool was over the top at time and almost constant. His was subtle and delivered in a very calm manner that I found amusing. There are scenes in this movie that I still crack up every time I see it including when he is fighting Colossus on the freeway. Morena Baccarin plays Wade’s girlfriend/fiancé I enjoyed there back and forth relationship throughout the movie.  I’m starting to run out of words for awesome.

THE BAD
There are times when I write these that I don’t have much in the way in bad to say about the film. Only thing I will say for this movie is that not all of the jokes hit and that’s all right. Some of the jokes were played in the trailer and were not replaced in the film so I’ve heard them a multiple times so it lost its punch. Other then this I’ve got nothing and even this isn’t much the movie is hysterical.

THE CONCLUSION
Go and see this movie it’s (once again) AWESOME! This movie is hard to explain. I’ve been asked and I just stare at them blankly and then just tell them to go see the movie.  It’s R so obviously there is going to be some brutal and sexual stuff so be smart people. If your still not sold watch the trailer below.

Star Wars: The Force Awakens... Review! (Maybe Spoliers) Lets be honest though who hasn't seen this?

Star Wars: The Force Awakens - PG13
For my first movie back figured I'd jump on the Star Wars band wagon. For the record I've seen this movie 6 times in theater on IMAX 3D, 3D, and standard versions. So to say that this review might lean to one side would be an understatement.

THE GOOD
Come on it's Star Wars! How could you not enjoy this movie. Unless you have no idea who those characters on the poster above are. Then you probably didn't care for this movie. If your a fan of Star Wars I don't know how you didn't like this movie. You get the best of both worlds you get your old school characters we love and get some new characters that move the story forward. Oh and lightsaber fights. Who doesn't want more lightsaber fights? Lets be honest who didn't get goosebumps when Rey pulled the lightsaber from the snow and that brilliant John William's score begins. There were plenty of scenes like this. Also this movie is visually well done. It felt like where they could they went practical and that was really seen when watching the movie. I don't feel I need to go further on this one. I could but you'd be reading all evening.

THE BAD
If you were looking for an original story.. your going to be sadly disappointed. It in essence was a Star Wars greatest hits. There was a Death Star blowing up although they make sure its clear that's not what it is. Were finding a Jedi that's disappeared. There's a trench run. Now I liked these things. Part of me wanted these things. So for me I was okay with this story for some though it may not be different enough. Other then this I've got nothing. I warned this was going to be one sided.

THE CONCLUSION
If you want a fun popcorn movie. This is your movie. If you wanted a Star Wars fan film. This is your movie. If you have no idea what Star Wars is.. It's still your movie. I guess what I'm saying is just go see the movie.

9 out of 10 Vogies <--- I have no idea what those are but everybody has a rating system.
